Law Students in VC classes

This book is an excellent primer for law students in VC/entrepreneurial finance classes, and I think is currently the most popular text for those kinds of classes. Even if it's not your required text, I'd recommend it; while the price is high, it's presented very well, and is probably the most concise text I've found on the subject. And attorneys who work in the field have told me that it's an invaluable desk reference. It is geared towards the attorney, so non-lawyers might find it cumbersome. But all in all, if you want to know the law in this area, this book's for you.

I read this book twice (not the appendix though, which is the support for the text), it incorporates tax law and practice, GAAP, and SEC issues with Venture Capital and similar transactions. It explains how to start a fund, how to structure deals, and how to exit the investment as well as familiarize the reader with the VC industry. Very detailed book and easy reading.

About the Author
Bhanu Hajratwala, a cook par-excellence, is fondly called the Martha Stewart of Gujarati cooking by her friends and family. Bhanu was raised in a traditional Gujarati family in the Fiji Islands where she developed her initial taste for authentic homemade Gujarati dishes. When she moved to the United States after mar- riage, she learned to improvise and maintain authentic flavours despite the limited availability of ingredients. Since then, she has compiled several cookbooks for community organizations, recipes for worship during ceremonies and has also conducted cooking demon- strations and classes throughout the US, New Zealand, Fiji, India and Australia.

Being a Fiji Born indian, i can relate a number of recipes to my early childhood and even now. They are bring back memories of food I used to have and its helping my shape my own recipes. These recipes are unique to Fiji Gujratis and I applaud the author in writing such a book. And I dont mind advertising your book within our Khatri community in Sydney.

An Inclusive Look at Iowa's History

I thoroughly enjoyed this text. It's written well and gives unique perspectives on many historical events. Instead of focusing on Iowa's history from one angle, she discusses what matters were like for women, Native Americans, and minority groups. I especially enjoyed learning what work women did as settlers and on the farm, how they were affected by wars, and the roles they took on to aid soldiers. In my opinion, this really is a superb example of what a history book should be.

Little Bill retells the traditional "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and relates how he has been banished to his room for making up a "BIG FIB" to cover up his tardiness. Once he confesses and sees himself in the folktale, he realizes that he deserves his parent's anger and punishment. Cosby's comic sense is not clearly in evidence in this didactic story, but he does meet the increasing demand by adults for children's books that illustrate moral issues. The sophistication of this book is found in Honeywood's collage illustrations. The artist's skilled use of flat color creates vibrant pictures that convey drama and emotion that are anything but flat.

Just what I was looking for

I was searching for a way to explain to my child why lying was "a big no-no." I hoped that a Little Bill book would be sure to hold my child's interest. This book was able to do both quite well. The story is interesting without being overly complicated. Both my children enjoyed it and the elder did seem to finally grasp what I'd been unsuccessful in explaining before.

My only complaint would be that I wished Cosby had had Little Bill's parents explain the danger in what he had supposedly been doing that caused him to be late for dinner (his lie), before having Bill come clean. But, it did allow for another important safety topic to be discussed.

Altogether, I'd give the book 4.5 stars.

Shocking!

I cannot believe this is a children's book! I don't think that Bill Cosby's wrongdoings are appropriate material for kids. It's bad enough that Bill Cosby did these horrible things, now he's glorified them in this autobiographical children's book! Disgusting!

On the plus side, I did get a kick out of the illustrations.

Um, this is more of a Little Lie, in the scheme of things.

This book is okay; however, I feel that the title is a bit misleading, as this story only tells of Bill's 'little' lie.
I was disappointed that it never addressed the "Big Lie", as I had hoped to learn some of Bill's "tricks of the trade" in his telling of the story.

Tons of insightful information, but very poorly edited.

I read through this book cover to cover to learn more about the travel and home based travel agency industry. The information contained within was extremely useful, and provided a terrific overview of the steps necessary to start you own business. Perhaps it made it seem a little too easy to become successful as a home based travel agent, but the ingredients were all there. This included setting up your business, creating a marketing plan, hooking up to the travel provider network, and training involved.
However, I am only giving this book 3 stars because the editing job for this book seemed non-existent. Lack of commas throughout, many typos, blank lines in the middle of paragraphs, grammatical errors, and other basic editing tasks were obviously not done. I can't imagine why this level of polish was left out. If you can ignore this then the book is well worth it for the knowledge gained.
I also wanted to note that the authors promote their own affiliated web sites a little too often throughout the text which wasn't necessary. A more unbiased set of Web links would have been more useful.

This is the book

While there are typos in the book, How to Start a Home Based Travel Agency is an excellent book that helped me make the transition from store front to home based. After 7 years as a retail travel agent, I was forced to go home-based. I looked at both this book and the other one (Home Based Travel Agent) and found this one to represent the information necessary to make the transition. Tom and Joanie Ogg are well known and respected in the travel business and their expertise goes without rival.
Do yourself a favor, this is the book to buy.

Great Book!

I was a "travel agent" for GTI and just didn't get the support I needed and found the benefits non-existent. But I found out that I wanted to become a real travel agent. I bought both books from Amazon.com and found How to Start a Home Based Travel Agency the best book for anyone wanting to start a serious career selling travel. The other book is good if you want to join GTI or organizations like that. I didn't find many errors in it at all.
