Light and entertaining for those who can read German

It's a fun book for people under 50 or so. An older colleague of mine (also a German professor) found he couldn't relate to the backgrounds or the life experiences of the two main characters, who are teenage boys. Also, I might add that I have an fairly advanced German language student to whom I've "assigned" this book this semester, and he is currently loving it. For those intimidated by the lofty German language of traditional German literature, this book should be an easier read, although you should be prepared for a lot of "youth speak" which will be alien to older readers.

Highly recommended book!

I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. It's well written, funny, and has strong themes of self-discovery. It's kind of like a modern version of The Catcher in the Rye.
